The stated principal aim of SCHIN is: "To enhance the quality of patient care through the science of cognition, collection, organisation, communication and utilisation of clinically relevant datas, information and knowledge".

The Northern & Yorkshire Cancer Registry And Information Service (NYCRIS) is responsible for the collection, analysis and dissemination of cancer data for the whole of the Northern & Yorkshire region.
